Skin needling, also called micro needling therapy, collagen induction therapy and percutaneous collagen induction, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to penetrate the skin to create a controlled skin injury to make a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Stem cell based growth factor serums are placed on the skin while needling procedure is performed to further help rejuvenate and firm the skin. The serum is penetrated into the tissue with the micro needling device. Through this process, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as REDUCTION IN SCARS, PORE SIZE, AND STRETCH MARKS.
Intervals of 4 to 6 treatments spaced in 5 to 6 weeks apart is typically recommended, and maintenance treatments in usually 6 to 12 months.Similarly to Fraxel Laser, which typically costs 3 times more than Micro Needling, stimulating the same pathways via a mechanical means rather than by using heat. Though Fraxel Laser provides more intense results, Micro Needling provides a fraction-of-the-price alternative for those wanting glowing, smooth skin and is thought to be safe for all skin tones. It is similar to Fraxel in the way that it resurfaces with minimal downtime, one to three days max, and stimulates new collagen over a six week period. Immediately after the treatment, skin is pink when leaving the office, and within the next 24-48 hours skin is glowing. To end the procedure, the aftercare recommended is to apply nutrient rich, stem cell based growth factor serums to the face to further rejuvenate the skin.
